Since I am not qualified to "channel" the mind of Christ as you and so many others are able to do, I'll just make a few observations:

1) I am not sure why you think our current pope slanders all homosexuals. He is simply holding to what the Church (and the Bible) has always taught about homosexuality. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. God does not "evolve" and neither do His morals or standards.

2) This whole "Born Gay" vs. "Gay is a result of growing up a certain way" argument is deceptive and, in some ways, irrelevant. I was born heterosexual. I was also born in a state of Original Sin and it is the original sin that is the corruptive force and makes mankind a fallen race. We are saved and forgiven for Original Sin through Baptism but that does not take away the effects of original sin, which includes concupiscence.

If I was born without original sin, I would "naturally" be unselfish. I would naturally look upon women as beautiful and I would not have a tendency to objectify them as sex objects for my own pleasure, nor would I desire to have relations with every beautiful woman I come in contact with. But, thanks to my fallen nature, I face all of these sinful temptations.

To claim that "this is the way God made me, so it HAS to be natural" not only denies the reality of man's fallen state, but it is a cop-out to avoid taking responsibility for our duty to spiritual combat--fighting against our sinful nature.

If I looked at heterosexuality the way you want me to look at homosexuality I could accuse the Church of slandering the existence of heterosexual men who are unchaste.

Many scientists make a good case that alcoholics are BORN as alcoholics. That doesn't change the reality of what a problem alcoholism is. To attempt to normalize sin by dismissing it as "natural" or a mere variation of nature is to deny God's truth and run from our own responsibility to rise above our fallen natures.

We're not going to have heaven on earth, no matter how hard we try. Life is a struggle, a fight and it's frequently painful and requires self-denial. Self-indulgence is no path to God.Keyser Sozehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14671388705496120385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1788619803398092918.post-19852116558784086182012-05-16T10:03:41.897-07:002012-05-16T10:03:41.897-07:00I think they may be unfairly treated by the Church...I think they may be unfairly treated by the Church. If they were born Gay, then their nature is NOT unnatural -for them! In that case, we reject God's creation as UNNATURAL! The Church descriminated against them and slanders their existence. They are not worthy of our trust-even if they obey ALL the laws of the Church and are chaste! Jesus would NOT approve of the way they are treated by this Pope-who labels and slanders ALL of them!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1788619803398092918.post-44103698276242809112012-05-14T20:07:57.864-07:002012-05-14T20:07:57.864-07:00I think the AIDS epidemic also made the general po...I think the AIDS epidemic also made the general population feel sorry for homosexuals. If it wasn't for aids then they could remain in dens of a iniquity. Nobody feels sorry for those who have the sexual habits of active homosexuals. But they do feel sorry for someone dying and agonizing death.Jamesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1788619803398092918.post-62640591675192247452012-05-14T12:32:36.470-07:002012-05-14T12:32:36.470-07:00Yes, they should. And if I find time, I will amend the post to include those.

However, it should be noted that public opinion is shifting towards sympathy to the homosexual agenda and they are counting on it. If the California initiative that banned homosexual marriage were on the ballot today, it probably would not pass.

The U.S. Supreme Court will eventually rule on this. If the homosexuals do not prevail, they will probably be about as vocal as pro-lifers have been since the Roe V. Wade decision of 1973.

No matter what happens, the future looks ugly. Very ugly.Keyser Sozehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14671388705496120385noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1788619803398092918.post-75931258877217472632012-05-14T11:24:43.254-07:002012-05-14T11:24:43.254-07:00Shouldn't the approx 30 state bans on same-sex...Shouldn't the approx 30 state bans on same-sex unions (eg the recent one in NC) be part of the time-line (esp. since they demonstrate that whenever it goes to an electorate, approval for SSU's have always failed)?Paddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10112119118958158131noreply@blogger.com
